Gov. Jacinto Borja National High School repeated its victory in last year’s SidlaKasilak Festival of Lights Competition when it  again bested four other secondary schools to bag the championship in the SidlaKasilak 2011 Festival of Lights (Dance of Lights) Competition held on the Kasilak Church grounds on Monday evening, Sept. 5, 2011.

The highly entertaining event was the main highlight in the 258th Annual Fiesta Celebration of the Municipality of Loon and 12th SidlaKasilak Festival of Lights Celebration in honor of the town’s Patroness, the Our Lady of Light (Birhen sa Kasilak).

For the distinctive honor, GJBNHS received the top prize of P20,000.00 and Glass Vase Statue trophy. Madam Pureza Veloso-Chatto, the governor’s better half and   the evening’s most special guest, and Loon Mayor Lloyd Peter M. Lopez, MD handed the prize to GJBNHS principal, George Abel Pureza.

Coming in second was Saint Teresa Academy, also last year’s Dance of Lights second place winner, which received P15,000.00 and a trophy. The third prize of P10,000.00 and trophy went to Sandingan National High School, again last year’s third placer. Other school participants which also give good performances were UB-Loon Institute and Sacred Heart Academy.

The SidlKasilak Dance of Lights is the main highlight in the annual SidlaKasilak Fiesta Celebration of the Municipality of Loon, and is considered the most unique in the Province of Bohol because it is the only festival that is held at night.
