44th Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony: A Moment of Gratitude, Preparation, and Community Solidarity

The Municipality of Loon once again gathered as one family during the 44th Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony of 2025, held at the Municipal Center Ground and hosted by the Loon Manpower Development Center (LMDC)/Public Employment Service Office (PESO). Leading the solemn activity were Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr., Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, Jr., and the members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, together with the municipal employees, representatives from national government agencies, and personnel from BFP-Loon and PNP-Loon.

Mayor Literatus opened his message with heartfelt gratitude to LMDC/PESO for taking the lead in hosting the ceremony and recognized the presence and cooperation of all employees and partners in public service. In a moment of humility, he shared his recent medical journey, disclosing that he had undergone two medical procedures—Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) and a laparoscopic surgery for gallstone removal. The Mayor expressed deep thanks to God, his doctors, and his family for a successful operation and assured everyone that he is now in better health and ready to continue serving the people of Loon with renewed vigor and commitment.

The Mayor also extended his appreciation to the PNP-Loon, Peace and Order Committee, BFP-Loon, MDRRMO, and all municipal personnel for ensuring a peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2. He commended the cooperation and discipline of all Loonanons during the two-day observance, which reflected the town’s unity and shared respect for tradition.

In his closing message, Mayor Literatus urged everyone to stay vigilant and prepared, reminding the public of the hard lessons from Typhoon Odette. With sincerity and hope, he encouraged all Loonanons to remain united and ready:

“Again, today, maybe tomorrow, andam ta kanunay, amping ta kanunay. Hinaut pa unta nga dili na mahitabo ang sama sa niaging Odette nga atong nasinati. Be ready always, amping kanunay, daghan ug daghan kaayong salamat.”

The ceremony concluded not just as a weekly ritual, but as a heartfelt reminder of resilience, preparedness, and the unwavering spirit of Loonanons—a community standing firm together in service, hope, and faith.
