The Municipality of Loon commemorated the 84th Battle of Moalong anniversary, honoring the courage behind the successful ambush that became part of Loon’s wartime history.
Municipal officials led by Mayor Yul Lopez, Vice Mayor Dodong Literatus, and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan joined the post-war veterans in remembering those who stood their ground when history came to the bridge we all know.
But remembrance was not confined to speeches and wreaths. Loon’s talents took the stage, while the Floater Contest brought a different kind of tribute to the Moalong River—turning flowers and candles into floating works of remembrance, to be carried gently by the very waters that witnessed the past.
From the riverbanks of yesterday to the Loonanons of today, Moalong remembers—and Loon continues to tell its story.
