The Municipality of Loon, under the leadership of Mayor Yul Lopez, in coordination with the 16th Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Pedro “Dodong” Literatus, Jr., through the Committee on Achievements and Recognition and with the full support of all council members, proudly conferred a Certificate of Recognition to Dr. Melanie Jimenez Quimson, PhD — a true embodiment of excellence, dedication, and Loonanon pride.
Dr. Quimson’s remarkable journey reflects the limitless potential of a Loonanon spirit. As a Filipino-Canadian educator, researcher, and global advocate, she has not only excelled in her professional field but also made history on the world stage. Crowned Miss World Universal 2025 following her reign as Miss Canada World 2024, she has become a beacon of inspiration for aspiring leaders, educators, and advocates everywhere.
Her academic achievements are equally noteworthy. Holding a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from California and currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Research with a specialization in Adult Learning at the University of Calgary, she continues to champion knowledge and innovation. Her pioneering work in creating the first-ever Filipino Language and Culture course for junior high students in Calgary marks a historic milestone in cultural preservation and education — bridging communities and generations.
For her exceptional contributions that uplift the image of the Filipino people, inspire the global community, and bring honor to her hometown, the Municipality of Loon and the People of Loon proudly express our heartfelt admiration and gratitude.
Mabuhay ang Loonanon!
