














The Municipality of Loon once again assembled at the Loon Center Ground for the Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony No. FR-07-2026, reaffirming its collective commitment to disciplined governance, patriotism, and dedicated public service. The ceremony was led by Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr. and Vice Mayor Jorge “Dondon” Marapao, Jr., together with the members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan.
Present during the ceremony were municipal officials and employees, partner National Government Agencies (NGAs), representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Bureau of Fire Protection – Loon, and the Philippine National Police – Loon. The event was hosted by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and the Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) Office, led by Mr. Roy Roferos and his team, highlighting the vital roles of agricultural sustainability and environmental stewardship in local development.
In his opening message, Mayor Literatus warmly greeted the assembly with “Good morning kanatong tanan” and commended the MAO and ISWM Office for successfully hosting the ceremony. He recognized the presence of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Marapao and its distinguished members: Hon. Hazel Saavedra, Hon. Rain Merquita, Hon. Tata Laniba (Liga ng mga Barangay President), Hon. Ruel Legitimas, and Hon. Wilo Tan. The Mayor also acknowledged the attendance of national agencies, particularly the Bureau of Fire Protection headed by SFO3 Gregorio R. Langcamon Jr., CE, MPA, and the multi-awarded Chief of Police of PNP-Loon, PCPT Cheung, along with department heads and municipal employees, expressing his appreciation for their unwavering service.
A significant portion of the Mayor’s address was dedicated to expressing gratitude to the entire workforce of LGU-Loon for the successful conduct of recent major activities, including the vibrant Lavapalooza celebration and the “Run for A Safe Loon,” an initiative of PNP-Loon. He emphasized the seamless collaboration between the LGU and PNP in facilitating preparations and ensuring the safety and success of these events. Special recognition was also given to the Market Administration Office headed by Ms. Merly Justol for its support and coordination.
The Mayor highlighted that the recently concluded Big Night featuring the band Cueshé was not merely an evening of music and entertainment but also an avenue to promote awareness on pressing social issues. Among the topics emphasized were Mental Health Awareness, Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC), the Anti-Rape Law, Republic Act 9165 or the Campaign Against Illegal Drugs, Teenage Pregnancy, and other important community concerns. Through these initiatives, the Municipality of Loon demonstrated that community gatherings can serve both celebratory and educational purposes, fostering informed and responsible citizenship.
In addition, the Mayor proudly announced that the Municipal Administrator, together with Ms. Edna Lafuente, is set to receive recognition on behalf of the Municipality of Loon for its best practices in the implementation of Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management programs. This distinction reflects the municipality’s proactive approach in ensuring disaster preparedness, resilience, and the safety of its constituents.
In his closing message, Mayor Literatus expressed his hope for the continued delivery of quality public service and sustained cooperation among all sectors of the local government and partner agencies. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their dedication and support, concluding with “Daghang salamat ug maayong buntag sa tanan,” as the municipality moves forward united in its mission of making #LoonMadanihon rise and shine—from Local to Global.
