The Municipality of Loon convened at the Municipal Center Ground for the Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony No. FR-14-2026, led by Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr. and Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, Jr., together with the members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan. Present during the ceremony were Municipal Employees, partner National Government Agencies (NGAs), including the DILG, COMELEC, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP), all united in reaffirming their commitment to discipline, patriotism, and public service. The ceremony was hosted by the Municipal Tourism Office.

In his opening message, the Mayor extended his gratitude for the gift of good health, emphasizing that it is more valuable than any personal celebration. He acknowledged the Tourism Office, led by Officer-in-Charge Ma’am Ching Relampagos, for successfully facilitating the ceremony.
The Mayor also expressed his appreciation to the PNP under PCPT Zen Cheung, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Coast Guard, and the MDRRMO led by Ms. Edna O. Lafuente for ensuring peace, order, and safety throughout the Holy Week observance. Their coordinated efforts—from traffic management to church security—greatly contributed to a solemn and orderly celebration.
Addressing pressing concerns, the Mayor highlighted the rising fuel prices and its impact on transportation, food security, and daily living. He proposed the conduct of an emergency meeting involving the 67 Punong Barangays, the Local Finance Council, the Sangguniang Bayan, and concerned offices to formulate responsive measures, especially in preparation for upcoming barangay fiestas.
He also acknowledged the presence of Sangguniang Bayan Members Hon. Rain Merquita and Hon. Hazel Saavedra, SK Federation Vice President Hon. Mariel Juntilla, department heads, and Municipal Administrator Dr. Lloyd Peter M. Lopez.
A significant development was also shared regarding the Municipality’s peace and order capability. Through the efforts of PCPT Cheung and the leadership of PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Loon was granted a brand-new Mitsubishi Triton vehicle, further strengthening law enforcement operations without additional cost to the LGU.
In terms of infrastructure development, the Mayor reported a major milestone for the Loon Waterworks System. Through Engr. Irwin Requina, it was confirmed that water supply is now being extended to the Island of Cabilao, covering five barangays. Installation of pipelines is already underway. While the system does not yet cover the entire circumferential road of Cabilao and is currently limited to designated areas, this development marks a significant breakthrough. Importantly, residents will no longer need to travel to the mainland to access potable water. Dako kaayo kini nga tabang sa atong mga igsuon nga taga-Cabilao, as water is expected to flow within the day—an essential step toward improving daily living conditions on the island.
Further strengthening the Municipality’s workforce, the Mayor proudly introduced Police Lieutenant Philip Alexis P. Regidor, a young Loonanon from Barangay Tangnan and a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy. His achievement stands as a testament to the dedication and excellence of Loonanons in public service.
The ceremony also highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of Loonanon athletes during the CVIRAA Meet. Recognized for bringing pride to the municipality were:
