The Municipality of Loon formally marked the second week of 2026 with the conduct of the Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony No. FR-02-2026 at the Municipality of Loon Center Ground, led by Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr. and Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, Jr., together with the 16th Sangguniang Bayan. The ceremony was attended by municipal employees, partner National Government Agencies (NGAs), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Bureau of Fire Protection–Loon, and the Philippine National Police–Loon, reflecting a strong spirit of unity, discipline, and shared commitment to public service. Hosted by the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, the event opened the day with a renewed pledge to uphold good governance and to move forward together in making #LoonMadanihon rise and shine—from local to global.

In his message, Mayor Literatus greeted everyone with warmth and gratitude, thanking God for the rain that gently settled during the ceremony and noting that the LGU has now entered the second week of 2026. He assured the public that business registrations and renewals remain in full swing, emphasizing the LGU’s commitment to transparency and business-friendly governance. He directed clients and stakeholders to the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), led by Ms. Fe Millanes, to address inquiries and concerns efficiently and professionally.
The Mayor also acknowledged the recent humanitarian mission of the LGU-Loon delegation to Cebu, led by Vice Mayor Jorge “Dondon” Marapao together with Hon. Ruel Legitimas, Hon. Dondon Relampagos, and ABC President Hon. Tata Laniba. Although Mayor Literatus was unable to personally join due to his critical role in overseeing business permit processing as the official signatory, Vice Mayor Marapao delivered a detailed report of their journey and the distribution of financial assistance to LGUs affected by Typhoon “Tino” and the recent earthquake. The delegation visited Talisay City, Liloan, Medellin, Bogo and San Francisco, Camotes Island, where they were warmly received despite questions on beneficiary selection. Vice Mayor Marapao explained that the Mayor personally identified the beneficiaries based on assessed needs and available information. Despite limited resources, the Municipality of Loon was able to extend a total of half a million pesos in assistance to five LGU beneficiaries, a gesture that was deeply appreciated by the recipient municipalities.
Mayor Literatus thanked Vice Mayor Marapao and the entire delegation for representing Loon with compassion and integrity. He reiterated that although the assistance was modest due to budget limitations, it was given wholeheartedly to help fellow LGUs recover and rebuild. He then recognized the presence of Sangguniang Bayan members Hon. Rain Merquita and Hon. Wilo Tan, along with department heads, NGAs, and the Municipal Administrator, acknowledging their continued dedication to public service.
A highlight of the ceremony was the update from PCPT Thomas Zen B. Cheung of the PNP-Loon, who proudly announced that the Loon Municipal Police Station had been recognized as the Best Police Station Nationwide based on a one-year performance matrix. Mayor Literatus and PCPT Cheung will formally receive the prestigious award at Camp Crame on January 29, 2026, during the Philippine National Police Day. PCPT Cheung also invited the public to support the upcoming “Run for a Safe Loon” on February 8, 2026, with ongoing registration, and shared exciting plans for an educational concert featuring the band CUESHE on February 13, to be held in Loon as part of their community engagement and crime-prevention advocacy.
Before closing, Mayor Literatus informed everyone that the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), through Ms. Polly Guballa, would conduct caroling in LGU offices starting at 9:00 a.m. to support projects of the Birhen sa Kasilak Church. Any amount of support, he noted, would be warmly welcomed. He ended the ceremony with gratitude and optimism, saying, “Again, good morning kanatong tanan. Daghang salamat.”
