The Municipality of Loon held its 40th Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony of 2025 on the bright morning of October 6, 2025, at the Municipal Center Grounds, led by Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr., Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, Jr., and the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, together with the Municipal Employees, National Government Agencies, BFP-Loon, and PNP-Loon. This week’s ceremony was hosted by the Administrative Staff of Colegio De Loon, under the leadership of CDL President Sir Bobong Legitimas.
In his message, Mayor Literatus opened the program by expressing heartfelt thanks to the host institution and acknowledging the strong participation of the NGAs—particularly the PNP-Loon, BFP-Loon, and DILG-Loon—for their continued cooperation and dedication. The Mayor extended his warm greetings to everyone with a cheerful “Madanihong buntag!” and recognized the presence of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, led by Vice Mayor Marapao, SB Member Hon. Rain Merquita, and SB Secretary Mr. Fidel Coritico.
A highlight of the ceremony was the introduction of two new officials joining the LGU-Loon leadership team. The Mayor first introduced Atty. Maurice Bryan Gorospe Roslinda, the newly appointed Senior Executive Assistant for Confidential Matters. In his brief message, Atty. Roslinda shared that although he has several residences, his home remains in Mocpoc Norte, Sandingan Island. He expressed his commitment to serve the Local Government Unit of Loon with utmost dedication, stating,
“I am here to serve my best for the Local Government Unit of Loon and to support the office of the Mayor—but my faith and loyalty are for the country and its duly constituted laws. For the office of the Mayor, we need all your support.”
He then extended his warm greetings to the Mayor, Vice Mayor, the Sangguniang Bayan, and all those present.
Following this, Mayor Literatus introduced Dr. Lloyd Peter M. Lopez, the newly designated Municipal Administrator, who previously served as Mayor of Loon for nine years and as Vice Mayor in the 15th Sangguniang Bayan.
In his speech, Dr. Lopez expressed deep gratitude to Mayor Literatus for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him. He shared that in September 2025, as his contract as Senior Executive Assistant under former Mayor Yul Lopez was about to end, he was ready to conclude his service. However, upon the request of Mayor Literatus, he accepted the call to continue serving as the Municipal Administrator, succeeding Mr. Rey Monreal.
Dr. Lopez emphasized his unwavering loyalty and dedication to the people of Loon, vowing to serve with integrity, sincerity, and transparency. He urged all employees to uphold the Mayor’s directives and to work hand-in-hand for the progress and harmony of the municipality, stating,
“Integrity means full acceptance and sincerity toward work and service. I look forward to everyone’s cooperation for the welfare of our beloved Loon—para mas molambo pa, mas malinawon pa, ug mas madanihon pa ang Lungsod sa Loon.”
In closing, Mayor Literatus thanked Dr. Lopez, expressing his confidence that with the addition of these two new officials—Atty. Roslinda and Dr. Lopez—the Local Government Unit of Loon will continue to uphold transparency, quality service, and commitment to the people.
As there were no further announcements, the Mayor ended the program with warm appreciation to all attendees, saying,
“Daghang salamat ug maayong buntag sa tanan.”
The ceremony once again reflected the spirit of unity, professionalism, and service that continues to define the governance of the Municipality of Loon.
