The Municipality of Loon gathered once again at the Municipal Grounds for the conduct of the Regular Flag Raising Ceremony No. FR-23-2026 on June 8, 2026, bringing together municipal officials, members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, department and office heads, employees of the Local Government Unit, and representatives from partner National Government Agencies including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The ceremony, hosted by the Bureau of Fire Protection – Loon, commenced with the traditional raising of the Philippine Flag, symbolizing patriotism, unity, and the collective commitment of public servants to continue delivering quality services to the people of Loon.
In his message, Mayor Cesar Tomas “Yul” M. Lopez, M.D. warmly greeted everyone and expressed his gratitude to the Bureau of Fire Protection for facilitating the ceremony and for its unwavering partnership in promoting public safety, disaster preparedness, and community welfare throughout the municipality.
One of the most significant highlights of the gathering was the remarkable performance of Team Loon in the ongoing Boholympics 2026. Mayor Lopez proudly announced that the Municipality of Loon is on the verge of securing the Overall Championship title, having accumulated an impressive medal haul of 56 Gold, 56 Silver, and 61 Bronze medals, for a total of 173 medals.
With only two sporting events remaining before the official conclusion of the provincial competition, Loon continues to maintain a commanding lead over its nearest competitor.
Mayor Lopez described the achievement as a reflection of the determination, discipline, and excellence of Loonanon athletes, coaches, trainers, parents, and sports officials who have worked tirelessly to bring honor to the municipality.
“This accomplishment is not only a victory for our athletes but also for the entire Municipality of Loon,” Mayor Lopez remarked. “May this inspire our young people to pursue excellence, not only in sports but also in education, leadership, and life.”
The assembly also witnessed the formal introduction of Police Captain Rodney A. Bantolo as the new Chief of Police of the Loon Municipal Police Station. Mayor Lopez encouraged all municipal officials, employees, and stakeholders to extend their full support and cooperation to PCPT Bantolo as he assumes responsibility for maintaining peace, order, and public safety within the municipality.
The Mayor emphasized that a strong partnership between the local government and law enforcement agencies remains vital in sustaining a peaceful and progressive community.
Another milestone celebrated during the ceremony was the successful launching of the Level I Adolescent-Friendly Health Facility at Rural Health Unit II. This initiative represents a major advancement in the municipality’s health services, particularly in addressing the needs of the youth sector.
The facility aims to strengthen adolescent reproductive health programs while providing counseling, mental health support, and educational interventions that address issues affecting young Loonanons, including teenage pregnancy, emotional well-being, and responsible decision-making.
Mayor Lopez commended the Municipal Health Office, RHU II personnel, and all stakeholders involved in making the project a reality.
“Investing in the health and well-being of our youth is investing in the future of Loon,” he stated.
The education sector was likewise highlighted during the ceremony. Mayor Lopez shared updates on the successful launch of Brigada Eskwela 2026, where the Municipality of Loon proudly served as one of the participating centers. The Mayor acknowledged the Department of Education, school administrators, teachers, parents, volunteers, and community partners who contributed to the preparation of schools for the opening of classes.
With classes officially resuming in public elementary and secondary schools, the Mayor encouraged parents and stakeholders to continue supporting educational programs and initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of learners throughout the municipality.
In terms of social services, Mayor Lopez reported the successful implementation of a rice distribution program that benefited approximately 3,000 families across Loon. Each beneficiary family received ten kilograms of rice as part of the municipality’s continuing assistance efforts.
The Mayor further announced that additional funding has already been secured to support a succeeding round of rice distribution, which will enable the LGU to reach more families in need.
“Padayon ang atong paghatag og serbisyo ug tabang sa katawhan,” Mayor Lopez emphasized. “We will continue to find ways to support our families, especially those most affected by economic challenges.”
Preparations for the Municipality’s Foundation Day Celebration on June 22 are likewise in full swing. Organizers are currently finalizing programs, activities, and logistical requirements to ensure a meaningful and successful celebration of the municipality’s rich history, culture, and achievements.
Mayor Lopez encouraged everyone to participate actively in the forthcoming festivities and take pride in the accomplishments of the Municipality.
The Mayor also underscored the importance of preventive healthcare initiatives, particularly the continuing blood pressure monitoring activities being conducted in government offices through the assistance of personnel from RHU I and RHU II.
These health monitoring efforts form part of the municipality’s broader commitment to employee wellness and preventive healthcare programs.
Following the flag ceremony, members of the Municipal Development Council (MDC) were scheduled to convene for the presentation and discussion of the Draft Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for Fiscal Year 2027. The plan will serve as a critical roadmap in identifying priority programs, projects, and activities that will support the municipality’s development agenda in the coming year.
Likewise, the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) was set to hold a meeting later in the day to discuss security concerns, public safety matters, and other priority governance issues affecting the municipality.
A supplemental budget intended to address remaining operational and developmental requirements was also scheduled for deliberation and approval, further demonstrating the LGU’s commitment to responsive governance and sound fiscal management.
Mayor Lopez concluded his message by acknowledging the continued dedication of the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, department heads, municipal officials, government employees, and partner agencies who contribute daily to the realization of the municipality’s vision.
He called for renewed unity, cooperation, and commitment among all sectors as the Municipality of Loon continues to pursue sustainable development, quality public service, and institutional excellence.
“As we move forward, let us continue working together for the betterment of our municipality and our people. Through unity, dedication, and service, we can achieve greater milestones for Loon,” Mayor Lopez said.
The ceremony concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism among participants as the Municipality of Loon continues to strengthen its programs and initiatives in sports, health, education, social services, peace and order, and good governance.
