The Municipality of Loon held its 47th Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony for 2025 at the Loon Activity Center, led by Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr., Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, the members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, national government agencies, and personnel of the BFP and PNP-Loon. This week’s ceremony was proudly hosted by the Sangguniang Bayan.

Mayor Literatus opened the program with a warm greeting, “Good morning, Loon Madanihon,” followed by his acknowledgment of the hosting team—the members of the 16th SB: Hon. Ruel Legitimas, Hon. Etel Palma Tecson, Hon. Rain Merquita, Hon. Mariel Juntilla (SKMF Ex-Officio), Hon. Hazel Saavedra, and Hon. Jeanette Vidal, under the leadership of Vice Mayor Dondon Marapao.
During the announcements, the Mayor reiterated the suspension of classes in all public and private schools in Loon due to the anticipated Orange Rainfall Warning issued by PAGASA. He emphasized that the decision was made late evening of the previous day after careful assessment, coordination with the MDRRMO led by Edna O. Lafuente, and in consideration of Loonanons’ safety alongside the actions taken by other Bohol municipalities. He stressed that safety must always come first, even if it impacts instructional days.
The Mayor also shared updates regarding the ongoing preparations for Tropical Storm Verbena, noting that the MDRRMO will convene today to finalize readiness measures aligned with the province-wide disaster preparedness directives. With Bohol now placed under TCWS No. 2, the Mayor urged all offices and barangays to be fully prepared for possible impacts.
He then recalled last week’s EXECOM Meeting, where significant administrative and operational matters were discussed, including the decision that there will be no LGU-wide Christmas Party this year. Instead, LGU resources will be conserved to allow the Municipality of Loon to extend assistance to the Province of Cebu, which has shown support to Loon in past crises. Despite this, employees may still hold office-based small gatherings funded personally and not through public funds. The usual employee gift distribution will still proceed.

The Mayor proceeded to commend several offices and individuals for their recent achievements. He acknowledged the dedicated service of the Loon Fire Station headed by SFO3 Gregorio R. Langcamon Jr., CE, MPA, and celebrated the outstanding accomplishment of the PNP-Loon, under PCPT Cheung, recognized as the Best Municipal Police Station in Region VII—a distinction that places Loon’s police force among the contenders for the national award, competing with top-performing stations across the country.
Another highlight was the Mayor’s commendation of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) led by Ms. Marnelli, for Loon’s recent recognition as a 2025 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) Passer, achieving an impressive 90% rating from the Department of the Interior and Local Government. This achievement reflects the LGU’s strong commitment to policies, programs, and services that protect and promote the welfare of children.
In closing, Mayor Literatus delivered a recap of the morning’s key points—class suspension, storm preparations, LGU directives, and the achievements of Loon’s offices—and ended the ceremony with a message of gratitude:
“Daghang salamat, ug maayong buntag kanatong tanan.”
Making Loon Madanihon rise and shine… from local to global!
