Loon, Bohol – September 20, 2025. The Municipality of Loon proudly joined the global community in the 40th International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. With the theme “Clean Seas against the Climate Crisis,” this year’s cleanup highlighted the municipality’s continuing commitment to protect its marine resources, preserve the environment, and strengthen climate resilience.




















A Global Movement with Local Impact
The International Coastal Cleanup is a worldwide campaign that mobilizes millions of volunteers across nations to safeguard coastlines, rivers, and oceans. In Loon, the ICC became more than just a cleanup—it transformed into a collective mission of solidarity, community empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
Volunteers, community leaders, and organizations came together in an unprecedented display of unity to remove litter, segregate waste, and restore the beauty of Loon’s coastlines and riverbanks.
Broad Participation Across Sectors
The event was spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of Loon in partnership with national and provincial agencies, civic groups, schools, and private organizations.
Government Agencies: Municipal, provincial, and national government offices, Land Bank of the Philippines – Bohol Field Unit, and the 702nd Mobile Force Company.
Barangays: All island, coastal, and riverside barangays of Loon.
Public Schools: Loon South Central Elementary School, Loon South National High School, Loon North Central Elementary School, Loon North High School, Lopez Dano Simbajon High School, Sandingan National High School, Cabilao National High School, and all coastal and riverside schools.
Private Schools: Sacred Heart Academy, UB–Loon Institute, Saint Teresa Academy, Trinitas Learning Center, Carmelite Learning Center of Tontonan, Inc., and Bohol College of Science and Technology.
Private Sector: Cabilao dive shops and resorts, and the Loon Market Vendors Association.
This extensive participation demonstrated the bayanihan spirit, proving that environmental protection is a shared responsibility that transcends sectors and communities.

The ICC in Loon is not just a one-day effort; it is part of a continuing call to action.
