The Municipality of Loon solemnly held its 51st Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony of 2025 at the Municipal Center Ground, led by Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr., together with Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, Jr., the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, municipal employees, and representatives from NGAs, including the BFP, PNP, COMELEC, and DILG. The ceremony was hosted by the Municipal Budget Office, marking a reflective and forward-looking gathering as the year draws to a close.
In his opening message, Mayor Literatus warmly greeted everyone a “good morning” and extended an advance Merry Christmas to all, expressing gratitude to the Almighty for the favorable weather that allowed the ceremony to proceed smoothly. He thanked the Municipal Budget Office for hosting the activity and acknowledged the presence of key officials and partners in governance, particularly the department heads, uniformed personnel, members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Marapao, and all municipal employees who continue to serve the Loonanon community with dedication.
The Mayor recalled the recent release of employee benefits, emphasizing the commitment of the LGU-Loon to fairness, equity, and inclusivity—especially for Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) workers—ensuring that support is extended across the workforce in recognition of their contributions to public service. He further announced the upcoming Pamaskong Handog to be held at the Loon Town Plaza, made possible through the generosity of Loonanon business owners and local sponsors, embodying the spirit of gratitude, unity, and gift-giving this holiday season.
As the year-end approaches, Mayor Literatus reminded all offices of the importance of clearing and properly dispensing all transactions before the official cut-off of the municipal books of records, underscoring accountability, transparency, and orderly governance. He also took the opportunity to acknowledge and thank those who made possible the water transmission pipeline project from mainland Loon to Cabilao Island, notably Congressmen Edgar M. Chatto and Baba Yap. The Mayor highlighted how this project significantly improves the daily convenience and well-being of Cabilao residents, while assuring the public that the water supply in the mainland will remain stable and unaffected.
In closing, Mayor Literatus reiterated the call for all municipal employees to continue serving the people of Loon with integrity and compassion, ending his message with heartfelt gratitude and well wishes: “Maayong buntag kanatong tanan ug advance Merry Christmas!”—a fitting conclusion to a ceremony that celebrated service, progress, and shared hope for the coming year.
