The Municipality of Loon, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Pedro “Dodong” M. Literatus, Jr., convened an emergency meeting with key local officials, including the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Jorge J. Marapao, Jr., Department Heads, Local Finance Committee, MDRRMO, PNP, BFP, and the 67 Barangay Captains, to deliberate on the conduct of upcoming barangay celebrations, particularly those scheduled for the fiesta months of April and May.

A central highlight of the meeting was the collective deliberation and voting of the barangay captains, where various perspectives and ground-level considerations were presented. These included the financial implications of festivities, current economic conditions, and the need to prioritize essential services. The outcome of the discussion reflected a shared recognition of the need for restraint and responsible allocation of resources during this period.
Based on the consensus and recommendations raised, the body agreed on the regulation, scaling down, or temporary suspension of certain barangay activities, particularly:
• Discos and large public gatherings
• Basketball, volleyball, and other forms of liga
• Nightly activities or pasundayag
• Other non-essential, publicly funded fiesta-related events
While acknowledging the cultural and social significance of these celebrations, the body emphasized that such activities entail considerable expenditures for logistics, prizes, and operations, which must be carefully managed under the present circumstances.
In addition, Foundation Day observances at the barangay level shall be regulated, ensuring that activities are conducted in a simple, meaningful, and resource-conscious manner, aligned with the Municipality’s current fiscal priorities.
The Municipal Mayor took into full consideration the inputs, sentiments, and votes of the barangay leaders, which will serve as the basis for the formulation of an Executive Order to be implemented across the Municipality of Loon.
This unified action reflects the commitment of local leaders to uphold prudent governance, fiscal discipline, and collective responsibility, ensuring that resources are directed toward essential services and the welfare of every Loonanon.
