27th Regular Flag Raising Ceremony of LGU-Loon

On July, 7, 2025, 27th Regular Flag-Raising ceremony of 2025 at the Municipality of Loon Center Ground led by Mayor Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D. and Vice Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr. and the 16th Sangguniang Bayan with the Municipal Employees, NGA’s, BFP- and PNP-Loon hosted by Offices of Treasurer and BPLO.

Highlights:

  1. Executive Committee (Execom) and QMS Coordination

Mayor Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D. officially announced that the Municipal Executive Committee (Execom) will soon convene with the Quality Management System (QMS) Office to discuss practical ways to strengthen the Municipality’s systems and services. This initiative reaffirms LGU-Loon’s commitment to upholding its ISO 9001:2015 standards, ensuring that each department continuously strives for improved efficiency, accountability, and citizen satisfaction. The Mayor underscored that this collaboration is vital to sustaining the Municipality’s Gold Standard in delivering public service.

  1. Kick-off of Operation Klaro: Surgical Mission for Cataracts and Pterygium

Mayor Lopez proudly shared the successful launch of Operation Klaro, a surgical mission dedicated to providing free cataract and pterygium surgeries for patients across Bohol. He highlighted that Loon has the honor of hosting this noble undertaking in collaboration with five ophthalmologists from the Gift of Life Foundation, with the strong support of Governor Aris Aumentado.

Yesterday, the initial screenings for patients from District 1 of Bohol were conducted at the Loon Town Square, ensuring that all eligible patients are properly assessed. Today, screenings for residents from the Second and Third Districts are ongoing, with the goal of finalizing the list of patients who will undergo free surgeries at the Cong. Natalio Memorial Hospital.

The Mayor reminded everyone involved to extend genuine hospitality and warmth to the beneficiaries and guests coming from different municipalities. He commended the dedicated teams, volunteers, and health professionals for their invaluable assistance and urged all Loonanons to provide all needed support throughout the mission.

  1. Addressing the Threat of African Swine Fever (ASF)

Expressing serious concern, Mayor Lopez discussed the emerging threat of African Swine Fever (ASF) in several barangays, particularly in the mountain areas and nearby municipalities such as Candavid, Maribojoc. Acknowledging the impact this may have on local livelihoods and the hog industry, he announced that a focused meeting will be held with the barangay captains this coming Thursday.

The Provincial Veterinarian has been invited to guide the local leaders on strict preventive measures. The Mayor stressed that hog dealers operating without proper certifications could be one source of contamination, and he emphasized that proper processes must be followed to contain and prevent further spread. He appealed to everyone to remain vigilant, responsible, and cooperative, reinforcing that the success of the Municipality’s efforts lies in the unified support of all stakeholders.
