LGU-Loon Concludes 3-Day Data Privacy Training Workshop: A Milestone in Digital Governance and Innovation

As part of its sustained commitment to promote technology-driven, innovative, and secure local governance, the Municipality of Loon, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), successfully concluded the third and final day of its 3-Day Training Workshop on Data Privacy and Conceptual Framework on June 19, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Municipal Activity Center.

This landmark initiative makes LGU-Loon the first Local Government Unit in the entire Province of Bohol to formally initiate and implement a Data Privacy Awareness Program—a bold step in its broader digital transformation efforts.

The final day of the workshop saw the designated focal persons from various LGU offices presenting the outcomes of their Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) exercises. These presentations highlighted actual data processing practices within their respective offices, focusing on key pillars such as the Data Processing Life Cycle, Personal Data Inventory, Risk Identification, Security Controls, and the construction of a Risk Map—all vital in establishing privacy-resilient public service systems.

The training was anchored on the provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and aimed to equip all LGU offices with the necessary knowledge and tools to ensure compliance, accountability, and responsible data management. More importantly, it laid the groundwork for a unified digital governance framework that supports the Municipality of Loon’s mission to become a digitally empowered and citizen-centric local government.

LGU-Loon is deeply honored to have been joined by the highly esteemed and committed DSWD Region 7 Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) Focal Person, Ms. Maribeth Bachoco-Belleza, whose insightful and thought-provoking message served as an eye-opener for participants. Her emphasis on the real-world implications of data privacy inspired deeper reflection and appreciation of its importance in every LGU function and interaction.

Our sincere appreciation also goes to Sir Victor Magallanes, Provincial Officer of DICT–Bohol Province and his entire DICT Team, for graciously responding to our call and contributing to the success of this highly relevant and impactful training workshop.

With the success of this pioneering initiative, LGU-Loon takes pride in being a trailblazer in digital governance in the province, continuing to set an example in creating safe, secure, and smart systems that serve the best interest of the public—from data protection to service delivery.

Padayon sa pag uswag, Loonanon! Toward a smarter, safer, and future-ready Municipality of Loon.
