Celebrating Nutrition Excellence: BNC Awarding Ceremony and Culmination of Nutrition Month 2025

Empowering Communities Through Quality Nutrition Governance

Venue: Loon Activity Center, Municipal Hall Compound, Cogon Norte, Loon, Bohol

As part of the official launch of the “Gasa sa Kahimsug” Project and the culmination of the 51st Nutrition Month Celebration, the Municipality of Loon, under the proactive and health-focused leadership of Mayor Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D., proudly recognized the Top 10 Performing Barangay Nutrition Committees (BNCs) for their outstanding contributions to nutrition governance and community wellness.

This highly anticipated awarding ceremony was held on the second half of the program on July 25, 2025, at the Loon Activity Center, and served as a platform to honor the relentless dedication of barangay officials and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) in implementing effective nutrition programs and interventions at the grassroots level.

The awards were based on the comprehensive BNC Evaluation, which assessed each barangay’s performance in planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of local nutrition programs. Each of the awardees exemplified the very essence of this year’s Nutrition Month theme:
“Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!”
—with the sub-theme:
“Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”

BNC Quinobcoban – Top 2
BNC Badbad Oriental – Top 3
BNC Napo – Top 4
BNC Catagbacan Norte – Top 5
BNC Tubuan – Top 6
BNC Taytay – Top 7
BNC Bugho – Top 8
BNC Nagtuang – Top 9
BNC Tan-awan – Top 10

These barangays were selected for their excellence in delivering sustainable nutrition services, organizing targeted feeding programs, promoting healthy practices among families, and maintaining strong coordination with the Municipal Nutrition Committee and Municipal Health Office.

Each BNC was represented by their respective Barangay Captain and BNS, who proudly received the Certificate of Award from Mayor Lopez, SB Chairperson on Health Hon. Marie Hazel R. Saavedra, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO).

This segment of the program not only highlighted best practices in nutrition planning but also encouraged healthy competition and innovation among barangays. The Municipality of Loon continues to uphold the importance of grassroots participation in achieving nutrition security and improved community health outcomes.
