The 31st Regular Flag-Raising Ceremony of the Municipality of Loon took place with unity and purpose, led by Mayor Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D., Vice Mayor Pedro M. Literatus, Jr., and the members of the 16th Sangguniang Bayan, along with employees of the Local Government Unit, national government agencies, and representatives from BFP and PNP-Loon. The event was hosted by the Municipal Agriculture Office, showcasing their continued support for civic activities and government solidarity.

Highlights of the Ceremony:

  1. Opening Acknowledgment
    Mayor Lopez began by recognizing the presence of SB Members, department heads, and NGA partners, appreciating their unwavering commitment to public service and presence in the ceremonial activity.
  2. Celebrating Key Milestones and Recognitions
    The Mayor proudly recounted several significant accomplishments from the past week that have placed Loon on the map for excellence and innovation in governance, education, and the arts:

Child Protection Ordinance Recognition:
LGU-Loon was formally acknowledged by Region VII as one of the very few municipalities nationwide with a local ordinance that directly addresses Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM). The award was received by Hon. Ruel Legitimas during a regional awarding ceremony, and the Mayor commended the Sangguniang Bayan for their progressive legislative action.

LMDC Receives TESDA Accreditation:
The Loon Manpower Development Center (LMDC), represented by Ms. Maricris Maestrado and Mayor Lopez himself, received official accreditation from TESDA as a Competency Assessment Center for the following qualifications:

Bread and Pastry Production NC II
Driving NC II
Bookkeeping NC III
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I & NC II

This milestone provides more local opportunities for vocational assessment and employment for both public and private school graduates, further empowering Loon’s skilled workforce.

International Triumph in Music:
In the realm of arts and culture, the Mayor honored the international victory of Ronel James Primacio (Moto Sur) and Marco Panio (Catagbacan Handig), members of Koro Seraphim, who brought home GOLD AWARDS in both Mixed Choir and Musica Sacra categories at the Taipei International Choir Competition 2025. The Mayor expressed immense pride in their achievement, calling them true symbols of “Garbong Loonanon.”

  1. Health Services Update
    Mayor Lopez informed the public that Dra. Lamparas will be on medical treatment for 60 days. He assured the community that plans are already being made to ensure continued medical services during her absence and encouraged everyone to help communicate this arrangement to the public to avoid misunderstandings.
  2. SidlaKasilak 2025 Preparations Underway
    The Mayor issued a reminder that the fiesta season is fast approaching, and emphasized the need for wholehearted collaboration and volunteerism for the success of SidlaKasilak Festival 2025, happening in just a month. He shared that the Municipal Development Council will be convened to request supplemental funds and finalize resources needed for the grand celebration.

    Mayor Lopez concluded with a heartfelt call to action for a fruitful and meaningful week of public service, grounded in the spirit of shared leadership and commitment to community development.
